Paying for treatment is one of the first worries people have when they start looking for reliable alcohol rehab. That worry is real, but many adults in Western New York have more coverage than they think. In many cases, inpatient alcohol rehab at a licensed facility is covered fully or mostly by insurance.
Does Insurance Cover Inpatient Alcohol Rehab?
Yes, insurance can cover inpatient alcohol rehab. In New York, most Medicaid plans cover substance use disorder treatment at facilities licensed by OASAS, the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports.
Our facility holds two OASAS licenses. One covers Medically Supervised Inpatient Withdrawal and Stabilization Services. The other covers Inpatient Rehabilitation Services.
That matters because alcohol treatment often includes both detox and residential rehab. For adults in Niagara County, Erie County, Orleans County, and nearby Western New York communities, Medicaid may make treatment available with little or no out-of-pocket cost.
What Types of Insurance Does Our Facility Accept?
We accept most Medicaid plans and some commercial insurance plans. Medicaid is the main form of coverage for many people seeking inpatient treatment in Western New York.
Commercial insurance varies more from plan to plan. Some employer or marketplace plans may cover inpatient rehab fully. Others may include a deductible, co-pay, or an approved number of treatment days.
You do not have to figure that out alone. Our staff verifies your benefits directly with your insurer, so you know what your plan covers before you arrive.
How the Insurance Verification Process Works
When you call our intake line, a dedicated staff member handles the insurance check for you. They contact your insurance company, confirm your benefits, and explain the result clearly.
You will not be handed a list of phone numbers or asked to sort through the insurance process on your own. The goal is to remove that stress while you are trying to get care started.
In many cases, verification can be completed the same day you call.
What If You Are Uninsured or Underinsured?
If you do not have insurance, or you are not sure what your coverage includes, call before assuming treatment is out of reach. Our intake team can review your situation and talk through available options.
Some people who are not currently enrolled in Medicaid may qualify. In certain cases, that process can begin before or during admission.
The intake call is still the right starting point. Cost should not be the reason someone decides not to ask for help.
What the 28-Day Residential Program Includes
Knowing what insurance may cover can help you understand the value of treatment. Our 28-day residential program includes individual counseling, group therapy seven days a week, DBT, Seeking Safety, psychiatric evaluation within the first 24 hours, medication-assisted treatment when clinically appropriate, and discharge planning with aftercare referrals.
For alcohol use disorder, care includes medically supervised alcohol detox using a tapering protocol. The team monitors withdrawal symptoms, including seizure risk, and provides medical support throughout detox.
When appropriate, Vivitrol, also known as naltrexone, may be used to help reduce cravings and support sobriety after detox. All care takes place at our facility in Newfane, NY, so clients are not moved between locations during treatment.
Why Dual OASAS Licensure Matters for Insurance Purposes
Dual OASAS licensure matters because detox and rehab can happen in the same licensed facility. Some programs only provide detox, which means the client may need to transfer elsewhere for residential rehab.
That transfer can create delays, stress, and possible coverage issues. At our facility, the move from detox into rehab happens under the same roof with the same clinical team.
There is no gap between the two phases of care.
How to Start the Process Today
Same-day admissions are available. The process starts with one call to our intake line.
Our staff will verify your insurance, explain what to expect, and help confirm the admission date. You do not need to wait until every question feels solved before calling. The call is how those questions start getting answered.
